Circles and squares: choosing what counts

Not every task should be able to break your streak. How to decide which tasks are circles and which are squares.

Every task has one of two shapes. A circle keeps your streak: miss one and the streak resets. A square is an everyday to-do that never breaks it.

The shape is set by Counts toward streak when you add or edit a task. Today groups your list the same way, under Keeps your streak and Other.

Keep the circles few

A streak is only useful if you can keep it. Pick the two or three things you want to do without exception, and make those circles.

Everything else, from errands to one-off reminders, works better as a square. You still see them in your list and tick them off, without the pressure.
